Loved this restaurant!! Great service; great food. The best fried artichokes we ate in all of Italy. The chef is so nice he let us into the kitchen to watch him make the pasta e fagioli soup. Would go again.Roberta Rappaport 05/25/2010Report Abuse
Outstanding restaurant! Located in the very heart of the Jewish Quarter in Rome, it serves plenty of typical Roman dishes and food from Middle East as well. Good value for money and helpful staff. Cozy atmosphere due to the kindness of the owner too. Definitely a nice place to stay and eat after a long strolling around Rome.Marco d'Agostino 03/06/2010Report Abuse

we were in Rome for shabbat, and spent sunday in the jewish ghetto area. Nonna Betta is situated in the heart of the Ghetto. the food was outstanding, we had the fried artichoke, a local speciality, and other fried vegetables. the soup was very tasty and we shared a tagliolini(a thin fettucini with tomatoes) yummy. we finished off with an apple strudel which was just perfect. service was excellent. would definitely go back there againbenjy broder 01/11/2010Report Abuse
We have been in Rome 3 times in the last year and a half. We ate at Nonna Betta each time. We really like the varied menu - especially the deep fried baccala and other baccala (haddock) dishes as well as the carciofi parmigiani (artichokes parmigiani). In a solemn ceremony I was dubbed an honorary grandson (nipote onorario) of Nonna Betta. I am very proud of this distinction. The owner Umberto is a very fine host.Eliyahu & Esther Green, Gerusalemme 01/09/2010Report Abuse

We just returned from our first trip to Italy,a 2-week journey beginning in Rome, then on to Umbrian and Tuscan Hilltowns, Florence, and ending with a few days in Cinque Terre. While the food was wonderful throughout, our experience at Nonna Betti was one of the most memorable. Not only was the cuisine exceptional, the service, hospitality, and warmth by both waiters and owner (Umberto), was unequaled anyplace in Rome, and one of the top few during our entire trip. Of course, it is always especially inviting and relaxing to find a delicious Kosher restaurant while traveling-- if you happen to keep Kosher! Umberto even emailed me the recipe for one of their outstanding desserts-Basbousa!Miriam Goldfien 10/27/2009Report Abuse

My family and I ate at Nonna Betta's twice in the week we were in Rome. The food is excellent, the prices are great and the staff are simply marvelous! The second time we ate there was for a pre-arranged brunch party for 17 people. I had arranged this brunch with the owner (Mr. Umberto Pavoncelo) ahead of time. I set up a fixed menu with much patient and valuable help from Mr. Pavoncelo, and everything went smoothly and perfectly. Throughout the whole process of setting up the brunch, Mr. Pavoncelo was helpful, prompt to respond and very friendly. The last thing worth mentioning is that the members of the staff have good English and Hebrew, which is rare in Rome (especially the Hebrew :P).Avi Hayoun 10/15/2009Report Abuse

Nonna Betta is the best kosher (and probably non-kosher as well) restaurant in Rome. The food is authentic real roman-jewish cusine, try the Jewish Artichoke - a real treat. Reasonably priced, excellent service, and amazing food - what else can you aks for? Also, the restaurant is open on Motsei Shabat. Effi 07/12/2009Report Abuse

An excellent restaurant by all standards. The staff were attentive. The food was delicious (I really recommend the cod!). The chef was friendly and came round to check that the customers enjoyed his food. Even the owner, Umberto, is a delight and welcomes everyone with his warm smile. M Aldohh 03/28/2009Report Abuse
