| While on business in San Jose, I had occasion to try out this restaurant for lunch. It was FABULOUS! Some of dishes were not necessarily my "favorites," but I was a little adventurous with a soup. In impressive fashion and without being asked, my waiter came back after I ordered, said that he sensed my hesitation with the soup order and presented me with a "sample bowl" portion to try! Wow...if only all waiters could be so well trained and sensible. Turns out the soup was amazing and I eagerly awaited my full bowl. I ordered the fish and chips and I can honestly say the fish was perhaps as well prepared and tasty as ANY I have ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and I have no doubt that all menu items would be equally impressive. I hope that local diners patronize this establishment so that it remains there for a long time! | Adam Rosen | 06/29/2010 | Report Abuse |
| I had the chance to eat lunch here June 11th with many of my family. Each dish was better than the previous. The burgers were perfectly chargrilled and tasted fresh and meaty. The toppings (I had pastrami, picked peppers and sauerkraut) were terrific. They cure and smoke their own corned beef and pastrami! mmmm. We also took out for Shabbos and the potato salad, homemade pickles, endless roast beef/corned beef/pastrami and turkey kept the family happily fleishig all Shabbos and Sunday. Chocolate chip cookies...mmm. The portions were totally generous. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. By all means we will be back. Open up in Chicago please! | Dovid & Esther Feder | 06/14/2010 | Report Abuse |
| I had the opportunity to eat at the Kitchen Table-twice a couple months back. I cannot wait to return. Everything written in all of the reviews prior to this one is true. What a great place to enjoy a meal! | david barg | 03/08/2010 | Report Abuse |
| FANTASTIC. The chef here used to be the chef at Tierra Sur in southern CA. I would feel totally comfortable taking clients here. Finally a Great Restaurant in the bay area. food service and ambiance are all top notch. can't wait to go back. | mgolding | 02/08/2010 | Report Abuse |

| Just returned from a trip to the San Francisco area, where we ate at this restaurant. Since we were approaching from the South and since the restaurant location was on our general route, we decided to give it a try, not having much idea what to expect. Imagine our surprise when we arrived on a street with wall-to-wall hip, trendy-type restaurants--a scene into which The Kitchen Table fits perfectly. The restaurant is attractive. The food is creatively prepared, beautifully presented, professionally served and, most importantly, delicious. Because the menu has a number of unusual choices, we tried several of the more exotic appetizers and entrees and enjoyed them all. We come from NYC, where there are many fine kosher restaurants and this is one of the best places we've ever eaten. Only the somewhat off-the-beaten-track location (about 45 minutes south of San Francisco) stopped us from returning. But, considering the surprising scarcity of decent kosher options available in San Francisco proper, making the trip to Mountain View would be far from a terrible decision. | Mendy | 09/14/2009 | Report Abuse |
| Took my husband last week after hearing about it from Jewish coworkers and ordering for weekly lunch at work. The atmosphere was friendly and warm - Friends met others outside at tables and sat down together. Those that dine kosher have a place to eat with other that don't necessarily need kosher but love the food. We had salmon crostini and mediterranian salad. Light, sumptuous meal for under $15 each and the waiter was gracious and prompt. Did not make us feel bad we ordered/ate lightly. Service was prompt, efficient and warm. Sitting outside made the event even better. | Brenda | 08/19/2009 | Report Abuse |
| This place was a great surprise to find in the San Jose area. In fact, it is much better than most, if not all, New York restaurants. Can't wait to come back here next year! | Barry | 08/17/2009 | Report Abuse |
| I had the opportunity to eat here twice during the past week. As a former member of the Palo Alto Jewish community who moved to the east coast, I was very pleased to see a kosher restaurant of this caliber open up in the bay area. The first opportunity was for dinner with a friend - we sat at the outside tables and enjoyed the atmosphere, see ( <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/10722771@N07/3752563611/" Pic </a> ). We started with bread/olive oil and a "lamb bacon" knish. My main was a simple burger (beef + turkey) with grilled onions and more lamb bacon with crispy fries. The burger was moist, flavorful & delicious (see http://www.flickr.com/photos/10722771@N07/3751256444/ ). My old roommate's dish, grilled salmon looked quite good as well, though the mound of buckwheat (perhaps) was the size of a small island, see ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/10722771@N07/3753346646 ) which dwarfed the fish. After these two mains, 1 shared appetizer and four glasses of wine the total was $85 before tip. The second occasion I went there for take-out (during the 9 days at this point) and ordered the salmon crostini appetizer and a portabello burger with grilled onions & fries. The take-out packaging was great (food-safe, plastic-lined paper boxes) and utensils. The crostini didn't survive the packaging and the trip to the hotel very well, however they were quite good nevertheless. The portobello burger was everything I was hoping for/expecting - the fries, however, disappointed. After the pleasant experience with *crispy* fries the previous night I expected more of the same but they were somewhat underdone and soggy. I can blame some of that on a 15 minute drive in a car which essentially steam them from the heat but I believe they were probably not "perfect" when they were put into the package either. Oh well, that was a minor inconvenience. This restaurant would fit in and compete admirably with others in any major metro area - I think most of the people at The Kitchen Table were not specifically looking for a kosher meal. Note I did not eat indoors at either time, here is a pic (sorry for the poor quality) http://www.flickr.com/photos/10722771@N07/3753359264/ Bathrooms were very clean, wine selection was good with a reasonable # available by the glass, absolutely acceptable for business meetings. | Mark Ferneau | 07/24/2009 | Report Abuse |
| Fabulous kosher cuisine - the first northern Cal restaurant deserving of the name for years. We live in the city and find the trek south well worth it. | nevik | 07/14/2009 | Report Abuse |
| If you are in the area you MUST check out the Kitchen Table. First class restuarant in every sense of the word. The food and ambiance was unbelievable. Great to meet chef Chaim who is a first class chef. | Sy Greenwald | 07/13/2009 | Report Abuse |

| As of May 31, 2009 they are now open - I had just arrived into San Francisco and went there straight form the airport. They were very accomodating even though I arrived after they had stopped serving lunch. The restaurant is very nice amongst a row of traif restaurants and fits beautifully. Now on to the food - I kept it simple The Lamb BLT appetizer and the Pastrami Sandwich with house cut fries. Both were outstanding! When the Lamb BLT - it was excellent the Lamb Bacon was cured on site and delicious. The pastrami sandwich like wise was excellent one of the best I have had in a long time - served with russian dressing on grilled sour dough - the perfect size. | David Weinstein | 06/01/2009 | Report Abuse |
