- Bet Yisrael is an urban kibbutz of secular and religious Jews who work together to build a pluralistic and decent society. Founded in the disadvantaged neighborhood of Gilo Aleph in 1992 by five families, the community of Bet Yisrael today comprises almost 30 families.
The members of Bet Yisrael believe that the new frontier of Israel is the social frontier of the inner cities and development towns. Kibbutz Bet Yisrael is therefore an intentional community within the existing community which strives to serve as a living example and a spark for cooperation between secular and observant Jews, and to effect grassroots change from within, as an integral part of the local population.
