In addition to its many and varied teaching programs, Hebrew College participates in deliberations on major issues of public concern and contributes to the formulation of policy alternatives through its two affiliates institutions, the National Center for Jewish Policy Studies and the Interreligious Center on Public Life. Hebrew College is also home to the Boston chapter of the American Jewish Historical Society.
The National Center for Jewish Policy Studies, an affiliate of Hebrew College, is the reorganized and expanded successor to the Wilstein Institute. A non-partisan national research and planning resource, the Center identifies and analyzes key issues confronting the well-being and vitality of the American Jewish community as well as concerns of world Jewry. Intellectually, denominationally and politically independent, the Center combines a passionate commitment to Jewish life with an objective approach to the American Jewish community's particular concerns and dilemmas. Through research, consultations, conferences and scholarly publications, the Center contributes to a fuller understanding of the community's concerns and policy options from an informed Jewish perspective. It applies rigorous methods of inquiry to defining both the broad American Jewish agenda and specific policy challenges.
The Interreligious Center on Public Life (ICPL), a joint venture of Hebrew College and Andover Newton Theological School, is a forum for respectful exploration and conversation among diverse religious communities on the great issues of our time.
